Bristol Museum - Clifton

This sensitive contract involved a complete stripout, right back to shell/core, of one of the main exhibition areas within the grade 2 listed Bristol Museum. The interior needed to be completely removed prior to the refurbishment and re-fit of the space. The work included the removal of a mezzanine floor, internal structural steel frame, display cabinets, furniture, fittings, partitions, floor coverings and suspended ceilings. The logistics of the contract meant that every item removed from site needed to be walked through the main foyer and entrance of the building.

The museum had to remain fully operational to visitors throughout the day, therefore precise planning was required to overcome the limited time and space available for removing the waste from site. As licensed waste carriers, we were able to remove all of the waste ourselves, using carefully planned lorry pick-ups and strictly managed temporary road closures between the hours of 7:30 and 9:00am. Great care was taken to move items such as large steel beams through areas that contained extremely valuable, ancient and rare exhibits.
